Martin Mohammed, Executive Director of Immigrant Credit Education and Financial Counseling Agency. Martin has two quarter-sized purple marks on his calf where he was shot as a young man in Somalia. He helped in the Somali refugee camps, was with the U.N. force called to Rwanda, and was in South Africa when Mandela was released. About the Department of Peace National Conference Martin says "This was historic."
Congresswoman Betty McCollum, representing Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District in the proud tradition of Bruce Vento and Eugene McCarthy. Our Congresswoman voted against the war resolution for Iraq and the suplemental funding bill. She witnessed some of war's reality in Iraq and Darfur and then authored the House amendment designating the Darfur situation genocide. She was recently appointed to the important Appropriations Committee. She had just received the President's war budget when she paused for this picture, kindly taken by an aide, camera balanced in one hand with the bulging sheaf of budget papers tucked beneath his arm.
